All about Tattoo pre/post care
  1. Before getting a tattoo, it’s a good idea to avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood thinners like aspirin for at least 24 hours beforehand. This can help reduce bleeding during the tattooing process. You should also avoid sun exposure and tanning for a week before getting a tattoo, as this can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation.

  2. For piercings, it’s important to keep the area clean and avoid touching the piercing site with dirty hands. You should also avoid using any products that contain alcohol, as this can irritate the piercing. It’s also a good idea to wear loose, comfortable clothing to your tattoo or piercing appointment to make it easier for the artist to work on the area.

  3. Avoid wearing tight or restrictive clothing that might make it difficult for the artist to move around the area they will be tattooing. If you are getting a tattoo on your upper arm, chest, or back, you might want to wear a tank top or loose t-shirt that can be easily pulled down or removed. For tattoos on your legs or lower body, you can wear shorts or loose pants that can be easily pulled up or removed. And for tattoos on your feet or ankles, you can wear flip flops or sandals that can be easily taken off.

  4. It’s also a good idea to bring a change of clothing with you to your tattoo appointment. This will allow you to change into something clean and comfortable after the tattoo is done, and will help prevent any clothing from rubbing against the tattoo and irritating the skin. Overall, the most important thing is to wear clothing that you find comfortable and that allows the tattoo artist to access the area they will be tattooing.

  5. To avoid delays, it’s a good idea to arrive at your tattoo or piercing appointment a few minutes early. This will give you time to fill out any necessary paperwork, discuss your tattoo or piercing with the artist, and get settled before the procedure begins.

  6. It’s also a good idea to make sure you have everything you need before you arrive at the appointment. This might include your identification, any reference material or images for your tattoo design, and any payment or deposit that is required. Having everything ready beforehand can help ensure that the appointment goes smoothly and that there are no delays.

  7. If you are unsure of how long the tattoo or piercing will take, you can ask the artist for an estimate. This will give you a better idea of how long to plan for, and can help you arrive at the right time.

1. Daily Care
  • Wash your tattoo with cold water (sterile or RO water recommended) three times a day for the first 7-10 days.
  • When bathing, keep soap away from your tattoo. Wash it separately and gently pat it dry with a clean towel.
2. Handling Scabs
  • Allow scabs to fall off naturally. Do not pick at them under any circumstances to prevent scarring and infection.
3. Lifestyle Considerations
  • Avoid exercise and sweating for the first two weeks.
  • Avoid alcohol for 5-7 days to promote faster healing.
  • Avoid chlorine water, swimming, beaches and direct sunlight.
  • Protect your tattoo from pets to prevent scratching and potential infections.
  • Consult your local doctor for a course of antibiotics, recommended for all tattoo types.
4. Moisturizing (Post-Initial Phase)
  • After the first 7 days, once daily washing and drying are complete, you can start applying Aliens Stuff or any chemical and scent-free moisturizer if you don’t have it. This will aid in the final stages of healing by keeping the tattoo slightly moisturized.
1. Initial Cleaning
  • Immediately After Tattooing: We’ll apply a Dermalize wrap at the studio if the tattoo is small. For medium to large tattoos, we wait at least 24 hours. We recommend visiting our studio again the next day. In that case, we will clean your tattoo and let it dry and open.
  • Once You Reach Home: Clean your tattoo with distilled or cold clean water. Avoid using soap; wash the tattoo separately and pat it dry with a clean, soft towel or tissue and let it dry and open.
  • Day After Tattooing: Clean your tattoo with distilled or cold clean water. Avoid using soap; wash the tattoo separately and pat it dry with a clean, soft towel or tissue before applying Dermalize. (You can visit the studio to get it done or do it on your own.)
2. Applying the Wrap (On Your Own)
  • Ensure your skin is dry and sweat-free before applying the Dermalize wrap.
  • Cut the wrap into smaller pieces and round the edges so they don’t peel off. Leave about an inch of extra margin around the tattoo to avoid rashes. Use a cotton swab and antiseptic solution like Dettol to clean the area around the wrap.
  • While applying Dermalize on the tattoo, make sure there are no air bubbles. These can lead to fluid accumulation and cause redness and infection.

3. Daily Care
  • Wear loose, full-sleeved cotton clothes to protect the tattoo from bed sheets while sleeping and from sun exposure.
  • Clean the edges of the wrap daily with a cotton swab and a mild antiseptic solution to avoid rashes and infections.
  • If you notice plasma or air bubbles under the wrap, remove it, clean the tattoo with sterile/RO water, and apply a new piece of Dermalize or contact Aliens Tattoo Studio.
4. Wrap Maintenance
  • The wrap is water-resistant, not waterproof. Avoid swimming, direct water streams, and sweat-inducing activities for the first two weeks.
  • If the wrap starts coming off, do not use tape; visit the studio for a redo.
  • When it’s time to remove the wrap, wet it slightly and gently pull it off. If difficulties arise, visit the studio for assistance.
5. Post-Removal Care
  • On the 7th day, remove the wrap, clean your tattoo with cold water and mild soap, and let it dry.
  • Apply Aliens Stuff or any chemical and scent-free moisturizer.
6. Lifestyle Considerations
  • Avoid exercise and sweating for the first two weeks.
  • Avoid alcohol for 5-7 days to promote faster healing.
  • Avoid chlorine water, swimming, beaches, and direct sunlight.
  • Protect your tattoo from pets to prevent scratching and potential infections.
  • Consult your local doctor for a course of antibiotics, recommended for all tattoo types.
